$19.50 per/hr. Eligible for perfect attendance

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Senior Accounting Clerk supports daily accounting operations by processing and recording transactions, monitoring accounts, and preparing routine financial reports. This role works under direct supervision and contributes across multiple accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and related activities. Accuracy, timeliness, and customer service are critical to success in this position. 

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING 

  • Process, verify, and enter data for accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, employee expenses, inventory, logistics, or petty cash 
  • Ensure accuracy, data integrity, and timely completion of all assigned work 
  • Monitor assigned accounts, maintain records and logs, and prepare routine accounting reports 
  • Communicate with internal and external customers regarding account status and resolve routine inquiries 
  • Establish and maintain organized files and documentation for accounting activities 
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support as needed 
  • Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental standards 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED  

Education 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Coursework in accounting or related subjects providing basic knowledge of accounting functions 

Experience 

  • Minimum of 2 years of related accounting or bookkeeping experience 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • Ability to use effective problem-solving skills. 

  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

  • Ability to use mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, in accordance with production paperwork. 
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Working knowledge of one or more accounting functions (accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, or basic bookkeeping) 
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) 
  • Proficiency with PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications 
  • Experience using accounting, payroll, or inventory systems 
  • Ability to use standard office equipment (PCs, copiers, scanners, etc.) 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Ability to identify issues or irregularities and escalate appropriately 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong customer service mindset and ability to work well with internal and external partners 
  • Ability to manage routine assignments and meet deadlines

PHYSICAL AND VISUAL ACTIVITIES: 

  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks in the meat department. 
  • Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and in the distance 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing. 
  • Stand/walk 7 or more hours per day. 
  • Constantly use eye/hand or eye/hand/foot coordination to perform tasks. 
  • Constantly twist/turn, talk/hear, and taste/smell. 
  • Frequently squat, bend, reach, handle/finger, grip/grasp and use fine motor tasks. 
  • Frequently lift up to 25 lbs. from floor to overhead and carry 30-50 feet. 
  • Occasionally climb. 
  • Occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. from floor to shoulder level and carry 30 feet. 
  • Push 60 lbs. block of frozen meat 1-5 feet. 
  • Pull empty containers 30 feet. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. 

  

ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS: 

  • Constantly work in damp, wet, humid and slippery environments. 
  • Constantly work near moving machinery with fumes or airborne debris. 
  • Constantly work with toxic or caustic chemicals. 
  • Constantly work in extreme heat/cold (35-40 degrees). 
  • Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protection. 
  • Occasionally work in high places and working on equipment causing whole-body vibration. 
  • Occasionally work in spiral freezers (-35 - -20 degrees) for dry pickup and/or product jams. 

 

MACHINES/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE: 

  • Bump cap, hair net, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, and smock. 
  • Rubber and cotton gloves. 
  • Machines and conveyors. 
  • Bar coding equipment.
